Skin Boosters are a type of dermal filler that will improve skin hydration, firmness and luminosity, via micro-injections of a very soft hyaluronic acid filler into the skin. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not injected beneath the skin to volumize or contour the face ~ they are injected into the skin to hydrate and improve skin quality.

As we age our skin loses collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, and it becomes drier, rougher and less elastic. Beauty Boosters help to nourish and preserve the natural loss of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in the skin, particularly in the face and neck area. During the treatment, the multiple injections activate the fibroblasts promoting new collagen and elastin formation in combination with the delivery of hyaluronic acid. The result is healthy-looking, glowing and plump skin. Skin Boosters are delivered by micro-injections into the dermis which leads to an improvement in skin texture, reducing crepiness and fine lines.

What results can be expected?

This treatment is suitable for all patients who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. It is recommended for patients who want to improve the overall quality and the degree of hydration of their skin. The Skin Booster treatment is not intended to fill lines and wrinkles. Instead, it is to hydrate the skin and promote formation of new collagen and elastin in the long term. How many treatments will I need?

The recommended number of treatments for optimal results is 3 sessions at 4-week intervals. After these treatments are complete, you will only need to return once or twice a year to maintain the results.

What does the procedure involve?

Before any treatment, our team of skin experts will take clinical photos to document your baseline skin. These photos will be reviewed with you during any subsequent follow up to track the success of each treatment. The skin is then cleansed using chlorhexidine and a topical numbing agent may be applied before the injections begin. After the numbing is cleared away, the injector will then administer the product through a needle into a specific layer of the skin.

What are the side effects?

The recovery time for this treatment is minimal. Immediately post treatment you will notice tiny 3-4 mm bumps on the surface of the skin. These resolve in 24-48hours. You may experience post-injection swelling. Small bruises may be apparent particularly over areas of finer skin such as the lower eyelid, neck and décolletage. These will resolve over approximately 2 to 4 days. Additionally, you may experience a mild burning sensation directly after the treatment. Makeup may be applied the following day.

When will I see results?

Results become visible 1-2 weeks after the treatment.

How do I prepare for this treatment?

We will review how to prepare for the treatment during your initial consultation for SkinBoosters, however, please advise us prior to treatment if you have suffered in the past with cold sores on the skin or lips. This viral infection may be re-activated by some injectable treatments. You may be required to take an anti-viral medication such as Valtrex on the day of your treatment and for several days after your treatment.
